Meet Hana: New Project Coordinator
Hana Shankar joins ProQuest as our newest Project Coordinator, bringing all of her 10 years’ experience of keeping enterprise IT projects on track into a brand new platform, Salesforce.
Here's what her first few weeks have taught her.
A new platform, a familiar skillset
Her path to Salesforce ran through project management, business analysis, and change management, disciplines she's worked across for the past 10 years. In her most recent role, that meant managing Dynamics 365 rollouts for enterprise clients, sitting between technical teams and the people the systems were actually built for.
Moving into Salesforce felt like the natural next step. "The fundamentals are the same, it's a CRM, but it's a completely new technology," she says.
Three weeks in, she's already finding her footing. As an everyday user, she says Salesforce has been intuitive, and she's picked up Slackbot faster than she expected.
What Hana's already loving
Hana enjoys seeing how Salesforce can bring people, processes, and information together, all in one place. She likes that it can be configured to solve real business problems and make everyday work simpler for the people using it.
From a project standpoint, she finds it rewarding to turn a business need into something practical that actually works.
The learning curve is real, and she's upfront about it. The size of the Salesforce ecosystem, the terminology, the sheer number of products, it's a lot to take in early on. But she treats that as part of the appeal. There's always a new, more efficient way to do something, and her background gives her a solid base to build from.
Why she picked ProQuest
Hana found ProQuest through a job listing, and she became interested in the company's reputation in the Salesforce space, and wanted to have the chance to learn from people with deep platform and consulting experience. The culture sealed it. "It naturally felt like a place where I could contribute while continuing to grow," she says.
Three weeks on, her favourite part of the job is the people. She describes the team as welcoming, approachable, and generous with their knowledge, a close-knit group that made a new role feel a lot less daunting.
Outside the office
Hana has lived in three countries, and each move has made her more adaptable and open to new people and experiences. These days, most of her time off goes to her three young kids, a newfound love of reformer pilates, and exploring Sydney's parks, reserves, and day trips out to the Blue Mountains.
She can't live without Google Maps, mostly for finding the fastest route around Sydney that avoids the toll roads. And she's already picked her favourite coffee, a dark roast from a Sydney label called Campos, which she rates well above anything she found back in Auckland.
