A Smarter Way to Pay for AI: What Salesforce’s New Agentforce Pricing Means for You

Most customers saw immense potential in Agentforce, an always-on digital agent that could handle repetitive tasks without human input. At ProQuest, we work closely with service, sales, and field teams across Australia to implement Agentforce in ways that deliver real business impact. With 7 successful Agentforce projects under our belt, we've seen firsthand what works, where businesses get stuck, and what customers really need.

But many decision makers had reservations about the cost-per-conversation model. This flat-fee structure meant that a person asking a simple question through a website chat in Agentforce could be charged the same as a complex task like retrieving order details, accessing backend systems, or scheduling an appointment.

With no distinction between the cost of low-effort and high-effort interactions, many customers were concerned about the risk of a sudden surge in trivial conversations driving up costs. This uncertainty became a barrier to adopting Agentforce.

What’s New: Flexible, Pay-Per-Action Pricing for Agentforce

On 15 May, Salesforce announced a new flexible pricing model for Agentforce, designed to better match cost to complexity. The new model introduces Flex Credits, which allow you to pay based on what the AI agent actually does.

Here’s how it works:

  • USD 500 (approximately AUD 750) gets you 100,000 Flex Credits
  • Each Agentforce action consumes 20 credits on average, which is about USD 0.10 (AUD 0.15) per action
  • An "action" is a unit of work performed by the AI agent. That could include answering a question, retrieving an order status, or updating an account
  • Simple queries (like FAQs) may use fewer credits, while more complex tasks (like multi-step service requests) may use more

Importantly, customers on Enterprise Edition and above receive 100,000 free Flex Credits through Salesforce Foundations. That means you can start experimenting without financial risk.

Additional updates:

  • Agentforce for Sales, Service, Field Service, and Industries: Pricing will be announced at general availability (GA) in Summer 2025
  • Agentforce 1 Editions and add-ons: Also expected at GA
  • Flex Payment Models: Coming Fall 2025

Why This Matters

This change shows that Salesforce is actively listening to customer feedback and evolving to make AI adoption more accessible, scalable, and justifiable. Instead of a one-size-fits-all cost, you now have the flexibility to:

  • Start small and test with low risk
  • Scale only when you see real value
  • Align costs to outcomes, not just usage
