Every Corner of the World. One Big Lunch. One Bigger Family.

Interesting how we uncover further alignments in company cultures as we are going through our integration process. We found out that one of the rituals we had in common with Decision Inc. was our tradition of potluck lunches at the office. And the beauty of merging our teams? The potlucks got even better!

We had one last week, and boy that was a feast! Everyone brought something: a dish close to their heart, their comfort food, a piece of delicacy that reminds them of home. The one thing all the dishes had in common was their delicious taste.

The Potluck Lunch Entrees

From Asia, we had Sri Lankan pork curry, Indian chicken curry, faluda, and Vietnamese vegetarian spring rolls. From the Middle East, a Persian potato salad. From South America, Argentinian medialunas and Venezuelan quesillo. From Africa, South African malva pudding. From Europe, quiches, a French apple cake from NB, and a British flapjack. And from down under, pulled pork rolls, Pineapple Lumps and L&P representing New Zealand.

Some dishes were homemade. Some were picked up on the way. Some reportedly involved a spouse quietly taking over the kitchen the night before. Others were proof that yes, the younger ones can actually cook.

The two curries sparked a small but passionate debate - one was fiery and the other fragrant, making people go for seconds and even thirds.

Someone called the medialunas “croissants”. To be fair, he's French. When everything looks like it could be from your local boulangerie, can you really blame him? The table has not moved on.

Somewhere between the food and the laughter, we were reminded how lucky we are in ProQuest. A team representing multiple continents, countless countries, and more fun facts about people's backgrounds and cuisines than we could fit into one afternoon.

This is what one company coming together actually looks like.
