ProQuest’s Steptember 2026 Wrap-Up

It turns out a step counter can bring out everyone's competitive side.

So many people put their hand up to join the Steptember challenge that we ended up with 7 teams from across ProQuest and Decision Inc. Then the friendly rivalry kicked in.

Who we walked for

Steptember is led by Cerebral Palsy Alliance, an Australian organisation that has supported people with cerebral palsy for decades. The challenge is simple: aim for 10,000 steps a day through September.

The money raised goes to therapy, equipment and research for children and adults living with cerebral palsy, and their families.

Better together

Each person set their own step goal. Added together, they made a company target of 7,740,000. We finished on 8,249,575.

Some people blew past their own goals. Others kept going on the days they didn't feel like it. Proof that we really do go further together.

The Agile Striders took the crown with 1,417,832 steps. The other six teams chased them all month. Most of us are still recovering.

To push our step counts higher, we also held a Basketball and Pickleball Sports Evening in Sydney on Tuesday 29 September.

A few people uncovered some hidden basketball talent. Others picked up a pickleball paddle for the first time and had pretty much mastered it by the end of the night.

As a company, we also raised $1,230 for Cerebral Palsy Alliance, with Darrshi's Dashers leading the fundraising.

Why we do this

Community is one of our core values at ProQuest and Decision Inc. For us, it means remembering we're part of something bigger, and sharing what we can to lift others up. This month, that meant our time, our energy and a few sore feet.

Hopefully we've picked up a few good habits along the way too. Steptember might be over, but the walking doesn't have to stop. Let's keep finding ways to get moving and stay active every day.

To everyone who walked, donated or cheered from the sidelines, including the friends, family and clients who chipped in: thank you.

Agile Striders, enjoy the title. Next September, we're coming for it.
