Meet Waqar: New Technical Architect

🎉 Meet Our New Technical Architect, Waqar Yar!🎉
With over two decades of experience in IT across Java, cloud technologies, and Salesforce, Waqar brings a strong track record of solving complex business problems in industries like banking and healthcare. He is passionate about continuous learning and always looks for ways to stay ahead, having explored AI and VR even before they became mainstream. His drive to grow, paired with his ability to design smart, scalable solutions, gives our clients added confidence in the quality and innovation we bring to every project.
We asked Waqar a few questions to get to know him a bit better...
What part of Salesforce do you love the most? Why?
I came from a Java background and moved into Salesforce. I was really impressed by how much faster and more efficient development became. What used to take months in Java can now be done in weeks. Apex was easy to pick up since it's quite similar to Java, which made the transition smooth.
What I enjoy most is the constant learning. Salesforce is always evolving, with new features and updates rolling out regularly. It keeps things fresh and gives me the chance to keep building my skills. On top of that, it's scalable, integrates well with other systems, and makes coding straightforward.
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not working:
I enjoy swimming and snorkelling.
At night, I like stargazing. I have my own telescope, so when the skies are clear, I spend time spotting planets and constellations.
I also enjoy hosting barbeque parties with family and friends.
What is the one website (or app) you can’t live without?
Google Maps. I rely on it all the time for navigation and getting around efficiently.
What is your favourite part of working from home?
I enjoy making my own tea at home. I can take my time and fit it into my routine comfortably. In the office, it is a bit harder to do that.
What is your favourite restaurant or go-to food in Australia?
I usually go for Nando's BBQ, but I also really enjoy Chinese cuisine. I like when it blends with Pakistani flavours, combining both cultures on one plate.
What attracted you to ProQuest?
I was drawn to ProQuest because of the focus on doing the latest and most innovative work in Salesforce. While big companies often focus on legacy systems, ProQuest is pushing into new areas like Agentforce and Health Cloud. It is exciting to be part of a team that values quality, takes on big challenges, and works with cutting-edge solutions alongside great people.
What is your favourite part about working at ProQuest so far?
I enjoy the design and analysis side of the work. As a technical architect, I play a key role in new projects by helping to navigate business requirements and shape the right solutions. I'm the kind of person people come to when something needs fixing, so being able to resolve issues and find the right approach is something I really enjoy.
Join us in welcoming Waqar to the ProQuest family! We’re excited to have you on board and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make. 🎉😊
