ProQuest Slept Under the Stars So Others Don’t Have To 💤
Last Friday, the ProQuest team swapped comfy beds and takeout for cardboard mats and chilly air. Why? To raise awareness for youth homelessness with Stepping Stone House at their annual Sleep Under the Stars event in Barangaroo 🌃💙
It was a chance to step outside our comfort zones and stand in solidarity with young people who don’t always have a safe place to sleep. Cold toes, stiff backs and all.
🏠 Who is Stepping Stone House?
Stepping Stone House is a not-for-profit organisation that supports young people aged 12 to 25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Australia.
They provide safe housing, education, life skills and emotional support to help young people build confidence, independence and a brighter future.
Right now, they’re supporting more than 80 young people across the country, and thanks to this year’s $900,000 raised through Sleep Under the Stars, they’re able to extend the program to reach 10 more children.
With nearly 46,000 young Australians under 25 currently experiencing homelessness, the need is urgent. Sleep Under the Stars helps fund the programs that create real, lasting change.
We’re proud to support their mission and walk alongside them on this important journey.

We smashed it 🙌
We set out to raise $1,000. Thanks to the generosity of our team, community and the amazing support from the Stepping Stone House crew, we raised $6,587.

💭 What We Learned
It was cold. It was uncomfortable. And it was powerful.
Spending just one night outside gave us a small glimpse into the reality faced by thousands of young Australians. It sparked conversations and gave us a whole new level of empathy.
We’re already talking about doing it again next year and inviting even more people to camp out with us. So watch this space.
